Shopping

The other day I went with a friend to Ikea. This was very exciting.

The shopping experience in Israel is different in that there isn't one huge chain that will carry everything under one roof - like Walmart or Target. And so, the grocery store is a grocery store. If you are looking for more selection of produce, there are fruit stores. And for clothing, you have to go to the mall. It takes some getting used to. Some love it as it reduces headache and controls spending habits. Others have to plan out their week in advance and hit all the stops.

Ikea, I warned my spouse, would become the next place to Home Depot (not in Israel) to get some semblance of the shopping experience I've been used to. That said, we walked through Ikea and noticed something unique only to here - -

Showrooms featured Judaica items and wall art with biblical quotes, amongst other Hebrew sayings.

You just can't help but smile at how very special this is - - yet again, another example that here, in Israel, you are not a minority.

You ARE Jewish and in the chosen homeland. Keep looking around for these amazing experiences.
